U.S. CELLULAR EXPANDS NETWORK IN STEVENS POINT

U.S. Cellular is expanding its presence in Stevens Point to improve call quality for customers. A recently constructed cell site will increase U.S. Cellular's coverage through the Stevens Point Industrial Park area.

"We need reliable wireless service to protect the health and business of our citizens," said State Representative Louis Molepske Jr. "The expansion of the U.S. Cellular network will benefit individual users, commerce and first responders."

The new site is part of U.S. Cellular's 3G Mobile Broadband network in Wisconsin, which allows customers to access data on their cell phones 10 times faster than before and at no additional cost. With 3G speeds browsing the Web on a smartphone is very similar to the experience on a desktop computer. Web pages open faster and customers can send and receive large email attachments. Downloads take less time, and picture and video messages are delivered more quickly.

"In this day and age, customers expect their wireless phones to work no matter where they are," said Laurie Poellinger, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Wisconsin. "We believe our customers deserve that peace of mind and our engineers work tirelessly to give it to them."

U.S. Cellular has a team of network engineers who drive all over the coverage area to test signal strength and call quality. The company also listens to customer feedback to determine the best locations for new cell sites.

In Stevens Point and all across Wisconsin, first responders such as firefighters and police officers depend on wireless service to respond quickly to emergency situations. Nationwide, nearly 300,000 emergency 911 calls are placed via cell phones every day.
