Toshiba to launch Android tablet PC in September-October

Toshiba will launch its first tablet PC model featuring Nvidia's Tegra 2 processor, Android operating system and a 10-inch screen in September-October 2010, with global shipments until the end of 2010 expected to be 40,000-50,000 units, according to Taiwan-based makers.

Meanwhile, most other first-tier brands will launch tablet PCs by the end of 2010 or early 2011. Acer is set to launch its Qualcomm CPU with Android model by the end of 2010, while Lenovo is also set to launch its first tablet PC (LePad) by the end of 2010, focusing mainly on the China market, while Asustek's Eee Pad will not be ready until March 2011. However, Hewlett-Packard (HP) is expected to launch an Android/ARM tablet PC that it will bundle with a printer in September.
