Chunghwa Telecom on August 17 started upgrading Internet-access speeds for its ADSL subscribers at 256K/64K, 1M/64K and 2M/256K to respective download speeds of 512K, 2M and 3M in an attempt to stimulate demand for value-added services.
Internal statistics show that ADSL users at low and medium speeds are less willing to use value-added services than high-speed users, CHT said. There are nearly two million ADSL subscribers at the three speed combinations, and CHT will complete the upgrade in three months, the company indicated.
