More details about Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000)

Galaxy Tab is expected to get its first official unveiling at the IFA next month but we’ve got the first leaked firmware, courtesy of folks from Samsungfirmwares. Meanwhile, we also received some information regarding its specs, features and its operators.

As the firmware leak suggests, Galaxy Tab’s model number is indeed GT-P1000 and the few things we know so far as follows:

Display: The 7-inch screen will support WSVGA resolution (1024×600). This resolution count actually jibes with the news about Samsung asking developers to upgrade their apps to support hi-resolution. However, one thing we’re still unsure is the type of display used.

Processor: S5PC110. That’s the same Hummingbird CPU used in Galaxy S phones.

GPU: PowerVR SGX540

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth: Galaxy Tab will use BCM4329 chip from Broadcom that integrates 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and FM.

Other features: 3G, GPS, dual cameras, Swype, SRS, DivX, Reading Hub. Our source isn’t sure but reckons Reading Hub will be some sort of a store to buy ebooks, mags etc.

Availability: Some of the operators that are expected to get the tablet are Vodafone (there’s already an evidence for UK launch), Orange, O2, AT&T, T-Mobile US, SK Telecom.
