Taiwan-based Pegatron Technology, in response to a Financial Times report that Kaedar Electronics, its wholly owned China-based maker of plastic components, was involved in the kickback scandal involving Apple employee Paul Devine, has stated that it acquired Kaedar in 2008 and Kaedar is not involved in its supply chain for Apple's iPhone and iPod products.
As the alleged scandal happened before Pegatron's acquisition of Kaedar, it will not negatively impact its existing OEM partnership with Apple, Pegatron said.
Pegatron and Foxconn Electronics are currently the two contract makers for Apple's iPhone 4 smartphones, and Pegatron has reportedly also landed desktop orders from Apple, according to industry sources.
