iPhone 5 – what to expect

Since we have a bit of iPhone launch history to look back at, we have done a quick analysis of the current known data and estimate the following: iPhone 5 will be launched at June 24, 2011. It will come in two models, 32 and 64GB, feature a 7 megapixel camera, be at least 20% faster than the iPhone 4 and be even thinner – 0.3 inches or 7.6mm is our guess. More details and images inside.

Name
iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4. Apple likes to keep it simple and guessing that the next generation iPhone will be named ’iPhone 5’ is pretty safe.

Launch date
iPhone 5 - what to expect
Apple has been very consequent since the launch of the first iPhone with a new model coming each year, starting to sell in June or July. Friday is the most common launch day for iPhones so picking a date in the end of June should be roughly right. So be sure to stand in line June 24, 2011, ok?

RAM
iPhone 5 - what to expect
Since the 1st generation and the 2nd generation had 128MB of storage while the 3Gs was equipped with 256MB and the latest iPhone 4 has 512MB, a pretty safe bet would be guessing that the iPhone 5 will come with at least 1GB of RAM.

Camera
iPhone 5 - what to expect
Megapixels isn’t the most important thing when you’re discussing camera quality, but it’s still an important factor. The iPhone 5 will for sure have a sensor with an increased amount of pixels, while they continue to keep the noise under control = they probably stick with a maximum of 7 megapixels.

Storage
iPhone 5 - what to expect
Storage is becoming cheaper and cheaper so my guess is that iPhone 5 will have at least 32GB of storage and a bigger version with up to 64GB of storage.

Thickness
iPhone 5 - what to expect
The iPhone 4 is over 30% thinner than the previous version and to continue on that trend the iPhone 5 will be thinner as well. Around 0.3 inches or 7.6mm is our guess.

CPU
iPhone 5 - what to expect
The iPhone 4 is roughly 20 to 30% faster than the iPhone 3Gs depending on what tasks you are doing. The iPhone 5 will most probably come with an update A4 chip, and a speed increase of at least 20%.

So iPhone 5 will be launched at June 24, 2011. It will come in two models, 32 and 64GB, feature a 7 megapixel camera, be at least 20% faster than the iPhone 4 and be even thinner – 0.3 inches or 7.6mm is our guess. What do you think, kind of reasonable right?
