Genius Electronic Optical, a Taiwan-based maker of optical lenses, saw shipments of 5-megapixel lens modules and VGA lens modules both used in iPhone 4 increase to account for 10% and 30% of its total shipments of lens modules in July 2010, according to the company.
Due to the growing shipments, Genius Electronic's July revenues of NT$261 million (US$8.1 million) hit a new monthly record.
Genius Electronic also supplies 3-megapixel lens modules used in iPhone 3GS, with the proportion of shipments dropping from 40% in the second quarter to 10-20% in July due to decreasing demand for the smartphone, the company pointed out.
Genius Electronic expects increasing monthly shipments of iPhone 4 lens modules, but is faced with the challenge of improving yield rates, the company indicated.
