Dell Streak in AT&T lockdown hell

Is anyone really surprised that the useful idiots at Dell have shackled and locked down their oversized Streak Android phone?

That's right. Michael Dell must think we are all suckers.

Sure, you can shell out a cool $550 for a "contract-less" version of the tablet. Just don't expect it to work with any other carrier than the notorious AT&T.

Dell Streak in AT&T lockdown hellBut you don't have to take our word for it.

Here is what Dell spokesperson Lionel Menchaca had to say about the tablet's glaring lack of carrier options:

"Lots of folks are asking about the $549 version of dellstreak," tweeted a painfully out-of-touch Menchaca.

"To be clear, it will not be unlocked. It is SIM-locked to AT&T."

Oh, really, Dell? We'll just see about that.

Because as Brad Linder of Lilliputing notes, "plenty" of Android hackers will undoubtedly perceive the SIM-lock as a personal challenge rather than a limitation.

"How long do you think it will be before we start seeing hacked firmware for the Dell Streak that lets you use it with T-Mobile or other networks?"

How long indeed, Dell?
