In line with the government's plan to establish a major IDC (Internet data center) as part of a project to attract multinational enterprises to set up operations on the island, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will build its flagship IDC with total floor area of as much as 264,000 square meters in northern Taiwan, according to CHT.
The new IDC will entail total investment of NT$40-50 billion (US$1.25-1.56 billion) based on tentative estimates, CHT said. The carrier already has more than 10 IDCs around Taiwan.
