Having a mobile related blog means I must have multiple smartphones for review purposes. This means my accessories drawer is filled with different parts for charging and etc... One of the nice things about most smartphones (ie. iPhone, Windows Mobile devices, Google G1) is that they can be charged over USB ports. That is why I find Griffin's new iTrip Auto Universal one of the best car chargers available. If anything, it has become the one universal car charger I need for most of my smartphones.
Griffin's iTrip Auto Universal is a car charger with a built-in FM Modulator just like many of its popular lines. The big deal for me is that it comes with a USB port on the back of the cigaratte charging plug. This means that any electronic device that can be charged over the standard USB DC output can be charged in your car with this charger. This is such a great solution for guys like me who switches between an iPhone and G1 back and forth. It can even charge other electronic devices from Samsung, Creative, SanDisk Sansa, Zune, and of course, iPod family.
In addition to its charging features, the FM Modulator is a plus. Featuring the "smartscan" technology found in most of the Griffin's popular iTrip lineup, it has the ability to suggest available FM frequencies as well as giving you the ability to set manual station output and up to 4 preset stations programming. The MSRP is a little on the high side but for its universal appeal, its one of the best chargers available for a wide application of devices.
